Auggie's Classroom

Walt: identify and use the perimeter rule to calculate the size of Auggie’s classroom.

Reflection:

I was able make an irregular shape with decimals and add them all together.

Next time I will try to Challenge my shelf and do a more challenging irregular shape. 

Wonder Language Features

Walt: Recognize and understand specific language features.

Reflection:
I was able to understand the meaning of different types features example Personification ,Idioms.
Next time I will listen carefully to the words and phrases in the story wonder.

Precious McKenzie

Read my Precious McKenzie book!!!!

WALT: Edit my Precious McKenzie writing independently to identify errors and get my work ready for Book Creator publishing.


I was able to research facts and I wonder questions about Precious McKenzie and use those facts to putt in a book that I made.

Next time I will add some more I wonder questions.

Wonder Portrait

Room 19 did our own wonder portraits based on a book called wonder that we are reading and has a little boy named August who is the main charter. We made this on wonder creator and we were aloud to design our own portrait and choose a precept.

Kindness poem

WALT: use new words to soot my acrostic poem.

I was able to use words that I have never used in my writing before eg. Sensitive,experience,positive and Increase.

Next time I will use a thesauruses to replace words that I have used and turn it into a new word.

Recount writing

Walt: Write a clear sequence of events by using appropriate time connective words in my recount

I was able to write a Rad Recount by writing the recount in order and write the recount with the Idea's in my brain storm.

Next time I will put more year 6 word's to hook the reader.

John Pule Art

Buddhist temple

In room 19 we had to write a story about the 3 gs we learnt at the buddies temple then we had to send it there I won a prize and got a statue and a book it was really fun and we learnt lots of thing there.

Speech 2017

Walt: Deliberately chose words to create an effect on the audience.

The year 6 and 5 had to say there speech in front of there class and vote for the person that you think should make it to the finals. Then if you make it you have to say it in front of everyone in the year 6 and 5 and Mrs Plowright and Mr Borcher would judge to see the person that's going to the finals then you say it in front of the different schools around the world. 

Decimal addition

Walt: Use a variety of strategies to solve addition problems that involve decimal number.

Reflection:

For the mental strategies I was able to convert decimal numbers into fractions by looking at the place value they where in and for the written strategies I was able to keep all the numbers and decimal point in line to make it easy to add all together.  

Next time I will expand my numbers for the written strategies. 

  

Diabetes

Walt:Using  the internet to locate and select and evaluate the text for specific information including internet sources.

Reflection :

In room 19 we are listening to a story called patina and some on in the story has diabetes and we had to search up some facts of diabetes and put it on a slide show.

Speech 2017

 

Walt: deliberately choose words to create an effect on the audience.

Reflection:
In my speech I was able to use lots of persuading words to change the audience's mine. My favorite persuading word would be first because it's starting of my speech and it's really exciting.

Next time I will use more emotive words to hook my audience .

Misery Guts

WALT: Make justified predictions from the scanning of the cover, title and blurb
Reflection:
I was able to make predictions by looking at the front cover and justifies what was going to happen in the story
Next time I will make more prediction from the story.

Matariki Celebration - Phases of the Moon

WALT: accurately identify and organise the phases of the moon.

I learnt the phases of the moon that I had not new before and I also learnt the looks of the moons so now when I look in the sky at night I will be able to tall the names and phases of the moon.
I had only new the Full moon, New moon,Waning crescent moon and now I learnt so much more.

Celebrations Dance

WALT: Understand that people celebrate in different ways.

I Learn't that people celebrate in different around the world.
I was able to get dances that start with a certain letter and put in on a slide show.
Next time I will look up more Dances from the internet.

Usain Blot

WALT: Locate and Evaluate information about Usain Bolt on the internet.

I was able to look up on the internet 5 fact about Usain Bolt and put it on the slide show.
Next time I will put my own words and not copy the same thing on the internet.

Ghost - Making a Prediction

WALT: I am Learning to make prediction based on the cover and blurb of ghost by Jason Reynolds.

Reflection: 

I was able to look at the front cover and make predictions of what the story and what it was about then I was able to write why I think the boy was running.

Next time I will make more prediction's about the front cover and look at not just one picture but all of the picture's on the front cover.

Boxing day

WALT: understand passing on messages is important so we understand how why we celebrate.

Reflection:
In room 19 we where able to pick one of these celebration labor day,Boxing day,Queens birthday or Easter. We where also able to pick a group to go in and it had to be three people I was in a group with Coco and Julia and we did boxing day I had no idea about boxing day until we did it and I also didn't no a lot about all the other celebrations but now I do.

I think that this celebrations is really important because we are giving to the poor and that's a good thing and also the servants get to go and see there family's after hard working on Christmas

Quotation Marks

WALT: use a wide range of advanced punctuation correctly

My Reflection:

I was able to always use capital letter at the beginning of quotation marks.

Next time I will read the sentence carefully so I can get number seven right.

Animals in the zoo

Walt : recognize and understand specific language features eg. persuasive language

Reflection:

I was able to read the text and do 2 thing why animals should be in the zoo and 2 thing why animals shouldn't be in the zoo.

Next time I will make sure I actively stop on words I am not sure about like I am not sure what oriental

A-Z Celebrations

Room 19 was but into groups and I was with Julia and Meilaniah we had to search on the internet celebration happening in the world I had fun doing this and finding out celebration in the world that I had not known before.

Around the world birthday celebrations

WALT: identify and understand the different ways that birthdays are celebrated around the world.

Room 19 is doing a slide show about around the world celebration I did Morocco and I had to do activity's they celebrated of there birthday and I also needed to do there birthday song and what food they eat a map a were morocco is.      

The Bat

Walt : link ideas (implicit and explicit) in the story to help me develop a greater understanding.

Reflection:

I was able to understand how Tom was feeling and Matt was feeling in the text.

I could know how Matt and Tom was feeling because I went back in the text and and re-read it.

Flax Flyers

Learning Reflection:

I was able to tell witch sentence was a fact and witch was a persuasive.

In the story facts are instruction and persuasive is trying to get you to get the flax flyers

Multiplication

WALT: use a variety of multiplication strategies to solve problems.


Reflection: I was able to use My 1,2,5 and 10 to work out my problem  and I was able to use brackets in strategies to make it look more organised.

Next time continue practicing my strategies.

Learning Refection:

I was able to change some spelling mistake because Sukie told me to.

Next time I´m going to try to edit my work on my own and look for spelling mistakes, punctuation and I will use a thesaurus.  I will also sit beside someone that I can ask for them to read my writing and give me some feedback.

Walt : display data on histogram, tally chart

Walt : interpret information from histograms and tally marks eg. medium, mode, range, mean

I was able to add up the score to add up some of the names.

I found it difficult because I got confused.

• My most popular mode was 22
• My biggest score for the first name median score was 21
• The smallest last name sore for mean was 10.34
• The smallest mode is 9.5

My next step is to try hared. 

Spelling - 45 Letter Sounds

Walt : use different spelling patterns and strategies to increase my word knowledge.

There are 45 letters sounds in the English language.  Sometimes these sounds are made by one letter and sometimes they are a made by a group of letters together.  Learning these letter sounds will help me spell unknown tricky words and increase my word knowledge.

House Captain Speech

Today I stood up to my house group Kauri because I want to be a house caption I demonstrated by doing my best and never giving up I was scared about doing my back kick over but I incurred my self and did it with out mucking up.

Walt : use advanced punctuation

We have learning how to use bullet points correctly in my 10 Things About Me slideshow.  I learnt you need to :

• Place the bullet point in the margin.
• Use a capital letter after the bullet point.
• If you have written a sentence, end it with a punctuation eg. fullstop.
• Bullet points are used to create lists.
• Find the bullet points icon on the right hand side at top of the tool bar called bullet lists.
• I need to be inside a text box to do bullet points  

Next time I will try and use bullet points in more of writing.

This year I am super I am looking forward to Camp I am also looking forward to learning and my wet day mentor Job. I am nervous about my time tables.
